The Eastern Africa Fusion and Liaison Unit (EA-FLU) is a regional Intelligence sharing mechanism of the Eastern Africa Countries comprising of Burundi, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda, the host.

The EA-FLU was officially launched on 23rd May 2018 in Entebbe, Uganda arising from a resolution of the 455th African Union Peace and Security Council Summit that was held on 2nd September 2014 in Nairobi – Kenya.

The Summit noted the growing threat of terrorism and trans-national organized crimes on the Continent and directed Partner States to establish action-oriented process for Intelligence sharing and security cooperation.

The EA-FLU was therefore established to coordinate exchange of actionable Intelligence, analysis and operations on the common threats in the region.

MISSION

To build a vibrant, sustainable, and effective information sharing mechanism against terrorism and other transnational threats among the Eastern African countries.

VISION

Strengthening Information sharing efforts for elimination of transnational crimes in Eastern Africa.

GOALS

  • Promote and coordinate information sharing in the fight against terrorism, negative forces, armed groups, organized crime, and any forms of transnational threats
  • Provide direction for information collection.
  • Facilitate coordination and cooperation among the member parties and the strategic partners.
